I reply as an avid windows fan, that also owns an iPhone and MacBook (noted only to show that I’m as impartial as one can get). In addition to traditional 'see target, select target, activate target' switching, Witch supports search-based switching. Activate the search field and start typing—Witch will thin the list of matching targets in real time, making it simple to select just the app or window or tab that you want to activate. Unobtrusive System Preferences pane for macOS that enables you to use keyboard shortcuts for performing windows management tasks

What's new in Witch 4.3.8:

  • Bug Fixes and Improvements:
  • Fixed a regression that caused the Witch panel to remain onscreen for a half-second or so after use, in some configurations. (Hat tip to Vincent F. for reporting this one.)

Using the Command + Tab keyboard shortcut to quickly switch between applications is very efficient, except if you have more than one window open for the same utility. Witch is an unobtrusive System Preferences Pane that enables you to navigate between apps and windows in much the same manner.

Easy to use app switcher featuring an uncomplicated installation procedure

Since Witch is a System Preferences Pane, if you double click on its file it will quickly integrate into your System Preferences window. However, to actually use its capabilities, you must included it on the list of apps that are able to control your Mac.

By default, Witch enables you to cycle all windows by using the Option + Tab (to go forward) or the Option + Shift + Tab (to go backwards) hotkeys. At the same time, you can define your own keyboard combinations that allow you to navigate only the minimized / non-minimized windows, to activate the frontmost app, and so on.

Navigate between application’s windows via a personalizable, auto-hiding panel

To help you identify the exact window you want to access, Witch displays a semi transparent panel that lists all open windows. Via the app’s Preferences window, you can quickly change the panel’s appearance, the default color scheme, the item’s size and font, and so on.

The same area enables you to effortlessly tweak the utility’s behavior: you can add a delay period for the panel activation, change the sorting method, decide to ignore certain apps, and much more. Simply explore the Witch settings panel to see everything the app has to offer.

Customizable window switcher designed to replace the Command + Tab functionality

Witch offers you the possibility to effortlessly switch between various apps and windows by employing user defined keyboard shortcuts: once the hotkeys integrate into your daily workflow, you will be able to find your way around your Mac in no time, regardless of how many windows you have open.
